Menopause and Health by Clare Shepherd

We are pleased to have Clare Shepherd – Menopause Specialist running a webinar inside of our facebook community www.facebook.com/groups/BodyTransformationCentre to help the members.

Clare Shepherd is a UK based menopause specialist. She typically works with women of X age who are pre, peri and post menopausal to help them have a healthy happy life. Help them transistion smoothly through this area of their life.

  1. Is there a particular diet you would recommend during menopause? If so and why?

“I much prefer to use the word nutrition, which implies nurturing the body to work to the best of its ability. And the body’s needs alter from birth, through puberty on through adulthood, the transition of menopause and into old age. So it’s good to stop and see what’s needed for each stage of life.”

  1. Is there a particular diet you would recommend during menopause? If so and why?
  2. Can you suggest anything to help aid my sleep as since becoming menopausal I have very broken sleep whereas as prior I slept like a log.
  3. Do you have anything you can recommend for hot flushes as I particularly get them in the evening?
  4. I’m not currently going through menopause but I’m not far off the age my mum went through it is there any symptoms I can look out for that may indicate the start?
  5. Can you recommend any books that are worth a read to understand the process more?
  6. I have been told I might gain some weight whilst on HRT medication by friends? Is this true?
  7. My doctor wants me to start taking HRT but I’m very reluctant and would prefer a natural approach have you seen an alternatives available that work?
  8. Are there any particular forms of training you have seen research on that works best through each phase?
  9. How many days a week would you recommend that I exercise?
  10. What would you say are the top 5 things that will help through menopause?
  11. Is there any herbal medicines or supplements you would suggest to take?
